Pangkor Island (Pulau Pangkor) is located in Perak, on the west coast of peninsular Malaysia. Pangkor is about 240 KM from Kuala Lumpur, 90 KM from Ipoh, and 180 KM from Georgetown Penang.
The total area is 2,200 hectares or 22 km² (including Pangkor Laut with an area of 1.3 km ²). Only one-tenth of the island is inhabited, while the rests are forests and highlands.
Pangkor Island (Pulau Pangkor)is a fishing village whose main economic activity is the fishery industry. The fresh catch in Strait Malacca mainly sells to Peninsular Malaysia. There are few seafood processing factories on Pangkor Island. These factories produce different types of seafood snacks and sell them to whole Peninsular Malaysia. The most popular seafood snack from Pangkor is “Stay Fish”.

The Malaysian government has heavily promoted Pangkor Island (Pulau PangkorP) as an island tourist destination. Pangkor Island (Pulau Pangkor) was announced as Duty-Free Island on 1 January 2020.
Pangkor is endowed with historical heritage. In the 17th century, the Dutch built a fort to control the Perak tin trade. In 1874, it was the location of a historic treaty between a contender to the Perak throne and the British government (The Pangkor Treaty), which began the British colonial domination of the Malay Peninsular.
Pangkor Island (Pulau Pangkor) is famous for its fine beaches and a mix of low-budget to 5-star accommodations. Teluk Nipah, Coral Bay, and Pasir Bogak are some of the most attractive beaches on the island. Pangkor Laut, a smaller island of Pangkor, is equipped with a world-class resort, Pangkor Laut Resort, owned and managed by the YTL.

1. Pangkor Island as A Fishing Village.
Tourists can experience and feel the living and culture of the fishing village on this island. The fishing village is mainly located on the eastern coastline of Pangkor Island. Visitors can see a lot of fishing boats parked along a long coastline.

With the history heritage, multi races, and multi-culture population, several historical and religious attractions such as the Dutch Fort, Batu Bersurat (Ancient Inscribed Stone), Floating Mosque, Fu Lin Kong Temple, Kali Amman Temple, etc.
3. Beaches
The main attraction of Pangkor Island is undoubtedly the beautiful offerings of its pristine beaches on the western coastline.
Pasir Bogak Beach is a snorkelling site with an extensive reef and shallow waters. Pasir Bogak Beach is located near Pangkor town, and this popular destination is a favourite haunt for picnickers due to its shady trees. Here, visitors can enjoy a kayak run or the simple pleasure of beachcombing. We can enjoy Chinese seafood around the small town near Pasir Bagok. Three are a lot of Chinese seafood restaurants in this area.
Teluk Nipah is where visitors can enjoy excitement and solitude by the beach. Take in the soothing lush greenery or browse the open-air stalls by the beach. A walk across to Giam Island at low tide will reward you with a treasure trove of marine life. Enjoy the water sports activities at the beach. There are a lot of guesthouses, resorts, food stalls, and Malay seafood restaurants near Teluk Nipah.
